These references clarify the effect of the three Rent Assistance savings provisions. The first, for certain retirement village residents, provides for the payment of Rent Assistance despite their treatment for other purposes as homeowners. The second, for certain boarders and lodgers, preserves the rules for calculating Rent Assistance that applied at the time. The third, the March 1993 provision, preserves the rate of Rent Assistance they were receiving at the time.

The change allows social security decision-makers to amend the impairment rating allocated to a client by a Commonwealth Medical Officer without the agreement of AGHS where such an amendment is supported by appropriate medical evidence.

Amendment states that an earnings credit balance is lost where a pension is cancelled unless the pension is cancelled due to income from employment. In this case, the earnings credit balance must be used up before pension is cancelled.
