The Electronic Travel Authority (ETA) is an 'invisible', electronically stored authority for travel to Australia for short term business or tourist entry. ETAs do not give the holder permanent residence status, therefore they are not entitled to any social security payments.
Note: DIAC has advised that this visa will be repealed with effect from 23 March 2013, with existing visas remaining valid until their expiry date.
People who would have applied for this visa will now apply for an ETA subclass 601 visa.
