Print this page Print this page Visa Subclass 785 Temporary Protection

Note: Due to the reintroduction of the 785 Temporary Protection Visa on 18 October 2013 some of the information on this page may not be current. The policy is currently under review and it is expected that this page will be updated in the 2 January 2014 release.

When the TPV arrangements were abolished from 9 August 2008 this visa subclass was also abolished from that date.

Visas that had already been issued (prior to August 2008) under this subclass remained valid until they expired or the holders were granted another visa.

A class XA subclass 785 TPV is granted initially for 3 years, and in some cases remains valid beyond that 3 year period until an application for further protection visa is finally determined.

A class XC subclass 785 TPV is an interim visa granted to certain XA 785 visa holders and remains valid until their application for a further protection visa is finally determined.

The class XA and XC have the same benefits attached.
