8.5 Nominees

Introduction

This chapter details nominee arrangements and their responsibilities.

 

There are 2 types of arrangements, 'payment nominees' and 'correspondence nominees'. There can only be one person appointed for each type of arrangement although the same person can be appointed as both payment and correspondence nominee for a social security principal.

 

Under the nominee legislation the term 'principal' refers to:

  • a social security payment recipient who has had a nominee appointed to receive either correspondence and/or payments on their behalf, OR
  • a YA recipient who has had a nominee appointed to receive instalments of YA on their behalf.
