This section contains information on the SEAM, which is a measure that provides the offer of social work support to help parents overcome barriers to school enrolment and attendance, and as a last resort, the possible suspension of parents' income support payments to ensure that their children are enrolled in and regularly attending school.
Note: The term 'parent' has been used in these guidelines for ease of understanding; however SEAM legislation uses the term schooling requirement person (1.1.S.55), which in some circumstances includes people with at least 14% care of a child of compulsory school age.
Note: References to DHS include references to the Secretary or a delegate of the Secretary for the purposes of SEAM.
