The delegate may not enter into a VIM agreement with a person unless, amongst other things, the person's usual place of residence is within a declared VIM area.
Under SS(Admin)Act section 123TGA the relevant Ministers (the Minister for Education, the Minister for Employment and Workplace Relations, and the Minister for Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs) are able to make a legislative instrument determining that a specified state, or territory, or area, is a declared VIM area for the purposes of SS(Admin)Act Part 3B.
VIM is available in selected Western Australian locations.
The legislative instrument for the initial roll out of this initiative defines the declared VIM areas of Western Australia by postcode area:
VIM is also available in the Ngaanyatjarra Lands (the shire of Ngaanyatjarraku and the community of Kiwirrkurra, in the shire of East Pilbara) and Laverton shire in Western Australia.
VIM is available across the Northern Territory.
VIM is available in the APY (Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara) lands as defined in Schedule 1 to the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara Land Rights Act 1981 (SA).
VIM is available in the Local Government Areas of:
