The relevant child protection authority and the delegate interact throughout the period of income management to ensure a joint service delivery approach and to assist with the performance of the duties, or the exercise of the powers, of the child protection worker in relation to the care, protection or welfare of children.
The exchange of information between the relevant child protection authority and the delegate is supported by SS(Admin)Act section 123ZE:
Exchange of information may also be used where a person who is being income managed approaches the child protection worker for emergency relief. The child protection worker can contact the delegate and explain that the person is applying for emergency relief, indicating that certain needs are not being met. The delegate would in turn be able to inform the child protection worker if there were funds available in the person's income management account that could be used for those needs.
