22.214.171.124 Provision of Evidence of Activities for Income Management Exemptions
Evidence of activities
There is a range of ways that evidence of early childhood and parenting activities is to be collected and provided to the delegate, as set out below:
- In the first instance, the person is expected to obtain evidence of their child's participation, which Centrelink has discretion to accept evidence as suitable or not.
- Evidence of immunisations can be provided using current methods that are used to confirm MIA and CCB.
- Evidence of engagement in socialisation, learning or physical activities is that the person seeking the exemption provide information to Centrelink that they are engaging in these activities.
Evidence of health checks, or visits to medical providers, could be provided by:
- a practitioner's certificate with the child's name and the date of the appointment, or
- using the child's personal health record which is issued to the parent at the time of the child's birth, or
- a copy of the person's Medicare record, showing that the child had attended a medical appointment. Medicare customers are already able to request this information from Medicare.
If a person cannot obtain evidence, as a last resort, the delegate will take other steps to confirm that requirements have been met, such as contacting the providers by phone.
