10.26.3.20 Benefits Payable under the Agreement with Poland

Benefits payable

Article 2 of the Agreement lists the Australian and Polish benefits covered by the Agreement.

Australian benefits

The Australian benefit covered is the age pension.

Polish benefits

The Polish benefits covered are:

  • age pension,
  • disability pension,
  • survivors' pension,
  • work accidents and occupational diseases compensation and pension, and
  • funeral benefit.

Note: Entitlement to Polish disability pension and survivors' pension can be obtained under the Agreement, however people living outside of Poland cannot use Australian working life residence to help qualify (i.e. totalise) for these benefits.

Poland will pay the minimum guaranteed benefit to people living in Poland, being paid Polish pension under the Agreement (i.e. those people who need to totalise to meet the Polish minimum requirements), but only to people who also receive some Australian pension.
