1.2.12.40 Essential Medical Equipment Payment (EMEP) - Description

EMEP purpose

As part of the Clean Energy Future - Household Assistance Package the EMEP will be available to eligible Australians to cover the additional costs of essential medical equipment (3.15.4.40) or medically required heating or cooling (3.15.4.50) that will arise from the introduction of a carbon pricing scheme.

The EMEP is available in addition to any existing state and territory government schemes. State and territory government schemes are intended to provide assistance with the full costs of operating life support equipment, whereas the EMEP is intended to cover the increased costs of running the equipment as a result of the introduction of a carbon price.
