1.1.N.60 Newly arrived resident

Usage

This definition applies to the following payments or benefits:

  • newstart allowance,
  • youth allowance,
  • austudy payment,
  • partner allowance,
  • carer payment,
  • sickness allowance,
  • mobility allowance,
  • special benefit,
  • health care card (low income),
  • Commonwealth seniors health card,
  • pensioner education supplement,
  • WA, (has a 104 week residence requirement not a NARWP), and
  • PP, (has a 104 week residence requirement not a NARWP).

 

Definition

A newly arrived resident is a person who has been in Australia (section 23(1)-'Australia') as an Australian resident (section 7(2)) for LESS than 104 weeks.
