1.1.E.132 Episodic care - care receiver aged under 16 years (CP)

Definition

For the purposes of CP (child), episodic care is where a person qualifies for CP for providing care to a child with severe disability or severe medical condition, 2 or more children each with disability or medical condition, or a disabled adult and one or more children each with disability or medical condition, for a 'period of at least 3 months but less than 6 months where the child/ren's condition is of an episodic nature and further recurrences of their condition are expected.

 

Note: This note relates to carers who qualified under the pre 1 July 2009 qualification provisions. A carer of a profoundly disabled child, or 2 or more disabled children that require a level of care that is at least equivalent to the level of care required by a profoundly disabled child, or a child who has a terminal condition, CANNOT qualify for CP under the episodic care provisions.
