1.1.V.10 Visa

Definition

For the purposes of FA, a visa is an authority to travel to and remain in a country. Australian visas may allow a person to remain in Australia (1.1.A.120) temporarily or permanently.

A 'permanent' visa will always appear as a sticker affixed to a page of the person's passport or travel document.

A 'temporary' visa may be a sticker in the passport as well, provided it was not issued electronically.

An 'electronic' visa is normally issued for tourists from those countries for which the electronic system has been implemented.

Examples: The USA and the UK.
