1.1.B.30 Blended family (FTB)

Summary

The following terms are all related to blended families.

 

Definition: blended family

For the purposes of FTB, a blended family has:

  • 2 or more FTB children in the family, and
  • at least one of the children is a child of one member of the couple (1.1.M.50) from a previous relationship, and
  • at least one of the other children is a child of the relationship, or the child of the other member of the couple from a previous relationship.

 

Definition: child of a previous relationship

For the purposes of FTB, a child of a previous relationship refers to a child who is the immediate child of one member of the couple but not the other.

 

Definition: immediate child

For the purposes of FTB, a child will be considered to be a person's child where the child is the product of the relationship the person has or had as a couple with another person, or a child for whom the person has legal responsibility (1.1.L.20).

 

Definition: child of the relationship

For the purposes of FTB, a child of the relationship is a child who is the product of that relationship.
